Rions (from the Latin Riucium or “built on rock”) is one of the region’s oldest medieval towns. Fortified around the 12th century, Rions has managed to preserve its old ramparts, restored over the centuries, as well as its narrow winding streets bordered by old picturesque buildings. The “Grand Bern” is an island formed by an arm of the Garonne River at the site of the château’s vineyard.
