Château Baracan

Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux

Château Baracan is a very old vineyard located within the municipal district of Capian and purchased by the Gonfrier family in 1989. Conscience of the property's exceptional terroir, the new owners have entirely reworked the vineyard (drainage, increased density and new grape varieties). The 19th-century château has also been fully renovated.
Château Baracan is a powerful, refined wine. Diverse grape varieties lend the wine great complexity.

A.O.C : Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux rouge

District : Capian

Terroir : Clayey-gravelly slopes

Grape varieties : 40% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot

Average vine age : 20 years

Viticulture : Traditional Bordeaux-style vine training, with two canes and a flat arch. Controlled grassing-down of the vine rows or mechanical working of the soil, to improve the soils’ vitality and biodiversity. Manual “green pruning”, for a homogeneous distribution and proper aeration of the grape bunches. Mechanical grape harvesting.

The entire vineyard is managed using sustainable viticulture, certified as HVE3 (High Environmental Value), and we are committed to a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) approach certified by Ecovadis.

Vinification : Destemming, crushing and vatting. Cold pre-fermentation maceration during 72 hours, to delicately extract colour and fruitiness. Fermentation and maceration in stainless-steel, temperature-controlled tanks during 20 days on average.

Ageing : 12 months in oak barrels.

Tasting notes :
Château Baracan, with its garnet red colour and fruity nose, is dense and round in the mouth, with a wonderfully fresh finish.
The perfect wine for grilled or roasted red meats.
